Photos of new furniture.

Our accent club chair:

Love seat with pillow to match accent chair:
I wanted the style that has flat arm rests so that I could comfortably sit on them if I so desired.

Photo to kind of see how it is all arranged in the living room:

A painting that was my great grand-mother's that we plan to hang over the sofa:
It wasn't on purpose, but I think the colors coordinate.  Nice.

Scotch Guard!

Our new love seat and accent chair arrived today.  I didn't get a good photo because we had to put the scotch guard on it and it is still drying.  I will take a better photo later.
Looks like the penguin is pecking Craig in the neck.

Mysterious Wasp Nest

I found this little wasp nest on the ground this afternoon.  After some investigating (poking it with a long stick),we have come to the conclusion that it is old and nothing to be concerned about.

I think it blew under the deck when it was blown from a tree or something because I also found a little piece of it a few meters away in the grass.

New Couch!

Today Craig and I finally bought a new couch, love seat, and accent chair.  We bought the first couch we liked (from back in February!) Just took us 5 months to commit.  The love seat and chair will be delivered on Sunday but the couch won't be ready until we get back from the Yukon.  Now all we need is an area rug and a new coffee table and the living room will be complete.

I think lime green walls will look good with our dark floors and the new furniture.  However, it will probably take me a while before I can convince Craig of this.

They were having a sale where you get a free 39" TV when you buy a living room set.... unfortunately our current TV is 40".  Looks like my sewing room will get the new TV!!

Random Photos

I have lots of photos on my phone that I never actually posted on the blog because I forgot, felt the event wasn't exciting enough, or found something better to post.  So this post is a bunch of random photos.

Filling the random hole on the front of the house with expanding foam:
I didn't even make a mess!
I also used this to fix the hole in the garage door...
I should really take a photo of that because it looks ridiculous.

Pouring boiling water on an ant farm after discovering that we actually bought an ant farm in addition to the house:
This actually works quite well!  Some times you have to do it more than once though.

A baby magpie that fell out of the tree in our backyard :(  He disappeared after 2 days....
His parents would yell at us if we were anywhere in the backyard.

The inside of our creepy garage:
I don't know why the recyclables end up in here... if we put them in a blue bad and out with the garbage they get taken away!  I have told Craig that mice will love that cardboard for a little nest... but he thinks our garage is mouse proof.  I think he doesn't know what he is talking about.  You can also see the planters from when Craig had his garden on our apartment balcony.

The bathroom cabinet that I had to shop for months to find:
It was surprisingly difficult to find a tall cabinet that could fit in that corner without blocking the light switch.  I eventually found it at JYSK and it even matches the rest of the bathroom!

Rain Catcher

This is a corn plant that has collected a droplet of water!
I thought the water bead looked pretty cool sitting in there.

Look at them grow!

Craig needs to thin out a bunch of these little guys pretty soon!

:(

My favorite painting fell off the wall. It actually broke the chair, scratched the wall, dented the frame, shattered the glass, and scratched the paint.  Craig and I were in the other room when it happened so we don't really know what happened.  Just that it was loud and made a mess.  Craig hurt himself while cleaning up.  Terrible end to the day!

This is why we can't have nice things :(

Let my water flow!

Cutting a hole in the drywall:

To find this valve:

To have water outside:

Now there is a hole in the laundry room wall:

New TV Stand

It took months before Craig and I could find an entertainment unit that we both liked.
I am very happy with the one we finally decided on.  After we get a new couch we might get some of the other living room furniture to match.

Somehow it makes the living room look bigger.

The Garden of Craig

Craig has planted the garden.  There is a lot more variety than when he had his mini-garden on the balcony of our apartment.  I believe Craig planted corn, two types of squash, sage, basil, spinach, green beans, onions, peas, carrots, cucumber, and zucchini!!!

It has been raining quite a bit since Craig planted the seeds, so that is quite convenient.  Currently the tap on the outside of the house doesn't work.  When the basement was renovated they hid the valve for the tap in a wall.  Using some creative looking into walls and in the ceiling Craig thinks he has found the valve and we will install an access panel so we can actually hook up a hose outside.  In the meantime Craig has to fill up the container in the kitchen then bring it outside.

They really should have put the valve in the open position if they were going to hide it... then we probably would have never even known there was a valve.

Dandelion Hunter

I have been hunting the dandelions in the yard for days now... and I still have hardly made a dent in them!  I am pretty sure our yard has more dandelions than grass.  This handy little tool to get the tap root is kind of fun though!

Building garden beds: Step 8 and 9

Step 8:  Fill garden bed with dirt.

Step 9:  Repeat steps 1 through 8 until you have the desired number of garden beds.

(Craig has been shoveling weekend and is very tired.)

So much dirt!

Progress on the garden beds can now continue!  Craig has a very busy Saturday ahead of him!
