Fall harvest!

Craig decided to harvest most of the garden this weekend because he suspects there will be frost this week. We got 4 buttercup squash, lots of carrots, and 32 cobs of corn!  I can`t imagine how much more we would have if it wasn`t for the hail storm that wrecked half of the garden!

Needs more furniture!

Our coffee table and end tables finally arrived!  We were using our old ones until the start of September when we gave them to our tenant.  Since then we have had to rest our drinks on the floor!  I even recall one day where we ate dinner sitting on the living room floor... which really makes no sense since it is attached to our dining room.  But we did - it is best to not try to apply logic to all of our decision.  

We ordered the coffee table and two end tables from Costco to match our tv stand.  They actually arrived last week but sat in our home un-assembled because I have been too busy to deal with them.  Much to my delight Craig put them all together by himself!  I am very happy with how they turned out.  I think it is time I stop trying to put more furniture into our little living room.

Also the painting doesn't normally sit on the couch like that.  

Perhaps Craig will hang the painting all by himself!

You may notice that our living room now features 3 plants.  I have decided that having plants inside of the house will increase your happiness.  I have no evidence to support this idea, but I am very happy with all of my plants.  

More squash!

Our second type of squash has come out!

I think they look hilarious.  I am not 100% sure what variety they are.

We have been eating so much zucchini lately.  

Tonight Craig made a delicious pasta with zucchini and spicy sausage.  

New Faucet

The faucet in our bathroom was leaking so Craig installed a new one.  In the process he completely took apart our bathroom!  Everything is back in place and functional and looks pretty good.  Not very different from the old one, but very shiny.  

New neighbors.

We have new neighbors and they have two big dogs.  One of them pooped in our yard today while Craig was outside at the BBQ... Craig told the owner but she just ignored him and didn't make eye contact.  I hope this isn't a regular occurrence.  Craig cleaned it up.... but if it happens again we will just throw it over the fence.

Sneak Peek

I have finished one third of the quilt I am making for our master bedroom.  It is a "Jelly Roll Race" quilt top that I have modified so that it will fit a queen sized bed.  It is really boring to sew such long straight seams but  it is coming together nicely. 

Corn, Zucchini and Slugs, oh my!

There was a wind storm last night and several of the corn plants were blown over :(  These were ones that were looking pretty rough after the hail storm last week. 

This morning I harvested several zucchini to bring to my mom so that she can make her famous zucchini salsa. 

Our yard was covered in slugs this morning.  Hundreds of them.  Ick.  I didn't even know we had slugs here.  Other than the fact they are creepy, I am not sure if we should care.  They aren't in the garden so I think we will just ignore them.
